Ruth Vilmi Online Education Ltd Oy was founded in August 1997 by Ruth Vilmi, a well-known pioneer in the field of on-line language learning. She and Kari Alho worked together on software projects at Helsinki University for several years and are the joint shareholders. WriteIt is a subsidiary of Ruth Vilmi Online Education Ltd Oy.

Ruth Vilmi herself is a pioneer on the Internet, and perhaps best known for her International Writing Exchange (IWE), which she has been running on the Internet since 1993.. In 1997, the main aim of the company was to enable language learners (particularly Ruth’s own students at TKK) to improve and use their language and critical thinking skills by communicating with other learners globally in authentic situations.
Nowadays we specialize in English language checking of technical texts, particularly doctoral and masters theses. technical reports and papers, conference papers, and articles for technical publications.
We offer accurate and affordable language checking and translation services for writers who need fast and effective enhancement of their documents,. We have an experienced team of British and American linguists and always choose the most appropriate specialist for each particular job..
The process starts when you register at writeit.to/services.php and upload your files. If the text is not ready at the time of registration, or there are technical problems, customers should click the ‘Upload later’ button.:
This is how it works:
- Register (in the small box at the top left side of this page). If you wish, you can then get an automatic cost estimate on line.
- Login and complete a language checking or translation order form.
- Upload your files. We prefer Word documents but also accept RTF, .PDF or plain text files.
- An expert checker or translator will receive your text by email. In the case of translation jobs, both a translator and a language checker will check your text before quality checking is done.
- We use MS Word for our online revisions and comments, making it easy for you to a) accept or reject any changes one by one (and learn from the comments in the margin!), or b) accept all changes simultaneously and use the returned text as it stands.
- When the work is ready, you will be notified by email.
- An email with any questions you may have about the returned text will be welcomed within 14 days of receipt at no extra cost.
Payment:
- Finnish customers receive an invoice on completion of the work.
- Customers living outside Finland pay in advance, either by Paypal or directly to our Sampo bank account.
